Motivationz Play is running a 5-week fundamental motor skills programme on Wednesday afternoons at the Graham Condon Centre. The programme reflects current thinking about effective teaching and learning in Physical Education. Motivationz Play delivers its fundamental motor skills programme through exciting, dynamic, and enjoyable sports sessions growing your child’s skills.
The Motivationz approach requires students to explore, develop and use the skills of running, catching, throwing and kicking in order to take part in simple games.
Through exploring, developing and using each skill children will develop an understanding of how they can explore, communicate and belong. Your child will be learning the fundamental motor skills required for all sports, increasing control over their bodies, including the development of locomotor skills, manipulative skills and co-ordination, confidence with moving in space, and playing near and with others.
Exercise directly impacts the behaviour and development of the brain. “It is likely that the effects of physical activity on cognition would be particularly important in the highly plastic developing brains of youth,” according to a 2010 essay penned by Charles Basch of Columbia University. Physical education helps to set children up for a healthy adulthood, perpetuating a cycle of well-being for generations to come.
